The Golf Course
Early Friday October 4, the irrigation system once again malfunctioned flooding some areas of the course.
Irrigation that should have gone off at 8:30pm Thursday night was still in operation at 5am Friday.
The images below show the result just prior to the irrigation being shut off.
Modern Irrigation and drainage infrastructure are key to the greens staff being able to present quality playing surfaces all year round.
Irrigation & Drainage Update
The Irrigation contractors, Complete Pumps and Irrigation, have been doing a fantastic job on the eastern side of the
golf course and will have the approved work completed in a matter of weeks. Approximately one third of the golf course
will then have a modern reliable system installed that will allow for more efficient water usage and the ability to irrigate
only those areas that are dry and require water. The old system is an all or nothing approach that irrigates both dry and
wet areas at the same time as noted above and is prone to failure.
The Drainage contractors have not put a shovel in the ground as yet and we are hopeful they will return to the site to
commence necessary drainage work early in The New Year.
Putting Surfaces
Course Superintendent Sam Neylon and Assistant Course Superintendent Declan Cramb are pleased with the progress of the ‘PoaCure‘ applications,
and the bent grass has reacted positively to the increased soil temperatures and fertiliser applications with recovery well on track.
Their expectation is that prior to the end of the year we will have full coverage and quality Bent Grass putting surfaces.
PLEASE REMEMBER COURSE STAFF ALLWAYS HAVE RIGHT OF WAY ON THE COURSE
DURING SOCIAL AND COMPETITION PLAY
Locker RoomsPaper towels in the Member’s Locker Rooms have been removed and replaced with a small cotton towel. Hand dryers are available also however to wash your hands and face after coming off the course clean hand towels will be available. They are NOT to be used to clean shoes or clubs, and anyone caught removing the small cotton towels or the larger towels provided for those that have a shower will have their playing rights suspended immediately and face further disciplinary action. Paper towels have also been removed from the clubhouse bathrooms with hand dryers available. |
