Important Message about Prostate Cancer

PC is one of the most common cancers affecting men, especially as they age. It’s crucial to understand the risks and take action early. While the exact cause of prostate cancer is still unknown, certain factors can increase your risk, including:

  • Age:     The risk increases as you get older, particularly after the age of 50.
  • Family History:  If your father or brother had PC, your risk is higher.
  • Diet and Lifestyle:  A poor diet, obesity, and lack of exercise may contribute to an increased risk.
  • Symptoms:  Being aware of the symptoms urinary problems like frequent urination, difficulty starting or stopping urination and blood in the urine.

Early stages of PC often have no symptoms, which is why regular check-ups are essential, especially if you fall into any high-risk categories. Talk to your doctor about screening options like the PSA test, which can help detect prostate cancer early when it’s most treatable.

Taking control of your health by maintaining a healthy lifestyle, staying active, and keeping up with regular screenings can make a significant difference. Don’t wait until it’s too late – take charge of your health and discuss your PC risk with your healthcare provider.

“One Man’s Story”

Having stumbled across the connection between low PSA and having PC, made me look further and found that an MRI was the best method to determine if I had PC, or not. Given my recent journey with the disease I thought you may be interested in viewing two [one short & one longer] versions that encourages all men, say over 60yrs of age to take control of their prostate health and think about the option to have an MRI.
